About
My name is D. C. Toedt. I’m a business lawyer, with an intellectual-property and software-law background. I’m in private practice in Houston; I spend part of my time developing the TATE Compendium.
I was formerly the general counsel of a publicly-traded software company, with 700-plus employees and offices in six countries, until we were acquired by the field’s worldwide leader. Before joining that company, I was a partner and an elected member of the policy committee at one of the largest intellectual-property law firms in the U.S. (where the company was one of my clients; I helped the founder do the start-up).
My last name is pronounced as if it were Tate. I go by “DC” because there’s a Roman numeral III after my name.
